01 / Our ethos
Khaybar Grappling brings Shia brothers together through a love of the sport and devotion to Allah. Our bond is rooted in love for the Prophet Muhammad and the Ahlul Bayt.
Inspired by Imam Ali, we aspire to strength with humility, courage with compassion, and discipline with good character. We carry those values onto the mats and into everyday life.
Bring a sincere intention to every session. Care for your body, practise patience and work on your character as well as your technique.
Strength calls for self-control. Meet every partner with humility, protect their safety and treat them with the dignity you would want for yourself.
Brotherhood goes beyond a round. Encourage one another, share what you learn and be a source of support on and off the mats.
Our heritage
Shia sources preserve accounts of the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله) wrestling, including his encounter with Rukānah recorded in Biḥār al-Anwār.
قُم حَتّى أُصارِعَكَ
“Stand up so that I may wrestle you.”
Inspired by that heritage, we approach wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as opportunities to develop discipline, humility and brotherhood—training the body while working on our character.

This is a reported historical account. Its inclusion in the collection is not an authentication of its chain. We draw inspiration from it without claiming that modern BJJ is itself a prescribed Sunnah.
02 / The craft
From the first grip to the final position, the details make the difference.
Balance, movement, control and escapes. Understanding the fundamentals gives you something reliable to return to as your grappling develops.
Drilling creates familiarity. Working with a partner brings timing and decision-making into the picture. Reflect, adjust, and go again.
03 / First steps
Our Shia Muslim identity is at the heart of our brotherhood. Love for the Ahlul Bayt guides our emphasis on humility, patience, courage and care for others. Training is a way to put those values into practice together.
Grappling is a form of martial arts focused on grips, takedowns and controlling positions. It uses leverage, balance and technique to work with an opponent.
Bring humility, patience and a sincere intention to improve. Listen carefully, ask questions and approach your brothers with kindness and respect.
Communicate clearly, work at an agreed pace and respect a tap immediately. Look after each other so both partners can keep learning.
Strength in faith.
Unity in brotherhood.
